Collapsible Wheelchair Tray

Meet Gracie, a 20 year-old girl with cerebral palsy who loves playing video games and making videos. To eat food or type on her keyboard, her caretaker had to lift a heavy fiberglass tray and set it on top of her wheelchair, then remove it again when she was done.

So, we set out to build a collapsible tray that would stow away on the side of her wheelchair. This would give her the independence and convenience to access and put away her tray whenever and wherever she may need it, without the assistance of a caretaker.

During the 2025 TOM Makeathon, we did exactly that. We designed, built, and delivered her wheelchair tray.
